Lilacs smell like home

It’s that time of year…lilac time! Luckily for me, Ukraine has a similar climate to Rochester so there are lilacs aplenty — though not as many as in Highland Park — for me to smell and think of home. Lilac in Ukrainian is бузок (“buzok”). The lilacs here are less bushes and more trees, though I think that’s just how they choose to prune them. Also abundant in my town are horse-chestnut trees, known here as каштан (“kashtan”). Please enjoy my photos of these beautiful flowers.

Nice pix. Lilacs are coming out in Oberlin. We finally have sun today after a week of dreary rain. Good for the flowers and the ducks!
