Recipes: Refreshing Iced Teas (for hot summer days)

It’s been hot here for the past two-three weeks: low 90sF every day, with not much reprieve in the evening. Dehydration happens fast in such heat, so iced tea has become my beverage of choice. I like to create my own combinations of herbal, citrusy flavors. Here are some suggestions — just combine in a large pitcher, pour in hot water, and chill until cold:

  • 1 bag green tea + 2 bags/a handful of hibiscus tea + juice of 1/2 a lemon
  • 1 bag green tea + fresh ginger (cut off small chunks or grate to your taste) + juice of 1/2 a lemon

I don’t sweeten my tea, but a spoonful of honey would probably add a nice smoothness to the above combinations.

Feel free to experiment with your own combinations and share them in the comments box.
