About Me

Hello — I’m Tammela. I’m an English language teacher/trainer with a passion for exercise (especially running), reading, cooking/baking, and singing/music making. My favorite spices are cinnamon, ginger, and cumin, and my favorite color combination is black and red. I take my coffee with milk but no sugar.

Originally from the US, I received my BA in English from Oberlin College and then spent September 2010-November 2012 as a Peace Corps Volunteer in southwestern Ukraine, teaching secondary TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) to grades 2-11.

From January 2013 through May 2019 I lived in London, where I completed various qualifications (CELTA, MA in English, DELTA) and spent five years teaching ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) to migrant adults in east London (Hackney and Tower Hamlets) for two different charities (NGOs).

Now I’m in Münster, North-Rhine Westphalia, Germany, where I’m freelancing as an English teacher/trainer. I teach mainly business English to individuals and small groups through a language school, the university, and independently.

This is my “world education.” Please join me on my journey.

Hi! I’m an English teacher in Ukraine who has been following your blog for a long time. Your recipes ROCK! My all-time fav is the Sweet-Salty Eggplant; used to make the rounds but then got really lazy and now always make the sauté. In a weird twist of fate, it’s actually cooking on my stove right now, yum!

Anyways, thanks for all the effort you put into this blog. It’s such a great resource for the rest of us! Along those lines, I nominated you for the Liebster award over on my blog : ) I hope this will help others cooking in Ukrainian kitchens to try out your recipes.

Good luck to you with your future adventures!

Hi Tammela! I just stumbled on your blog while looking for a new infusion recipe for cold season. Still trying to find my “go-to” blend. Anyway- saw that you’re an Obie. Me, too. (And my hubby!) ’01. Happy travels to you, my friend. Glad to stumble upon your corner of cyber space.
